A new, web based, e-learning system has been developed by CyberStream to support the online education of professionals in the Greek fur industry on subjects such as, “The art and craft of fur manufacturing” and “Promotion of fur products”, and to encourage the creation of online communities of practice. The system implements an innovative approach in knowledge representation by exploring techniques such as semantic web ontologies for improved knowledge seeking and transfer.

The system combines functionality of both asynchronous and synchronous e-learning in an integrated environment, by taking advantage of open source platforms for e-Learning, such as Moodle and Dimdim. CyberStream provided the design and implementation of the system as well as the development of learning resources.

The project was completed in two months with a budget of 83.478,50€.
